There is a mixture of excitement this week and if you want to know what it’s all about, just keep reading our Hot and Heavy Superhero News segment.
Our focus this week goes to the Suicide Squad, X-Men and Superman. More specifically, we’ll be looking at the progress being made on the upcoming movies and we’ll end things off with a question every Man of Steel fan is asking – when is the sequel coming?
The Progress on the Suicide Squad
From what we’ve heard the crew on the Suicide Squad set has been having a blast. In fact, the atmosphere has been referred to as a big party. Apparently everyone is standing in line to get a tattoo from the gorgeous Harley Quinn and Dead Shot. Make no mistake; it’s just a few special letters and it doesn’t look professional, but wouldn’t you sit down to for a tattoo from Margot Robbie or Will Smith?
In terms of production, the film is finally wrapping up. How did they celebrate? With another party of course. Some members of the crew also did a nice little deed by supporting a girl’s lemonade stand, which is quite ironic when you think about it. Unfortunately we’ll have to wait till August to see the finished product. The strange thing we’ve noticed since the inception of the movie is that the supposedly leading man, Smith, is playing second fiddle to the Joker, Jared Leto. Everywhere you look you see the haunting face of that legendary clown while Dead Shot is hardly IN the shot.
The Progress on X-Men Apocalypse
It’s no secret that FOX has had its ups and downs in terms of successful superhero movies, and by this we mean the Fantastic Four franchise. They just can’t seem to get that group off the ground. However, the production for a franchise that has been working in their favor is also wrapping up, namely X-Men: Apocalypse. Apparently the main unit filming has been completed and all that remains is the second unit filming, which should be done within a few weeks. This movie will also draw the trilogy, which started with X-Men: First Class to a close. With Bryan Singer behind the camera it should be a very good film and FOX still gets to look forward to Deadpool. As a side note, if Deadpool breaks the box office, will it mean more R-rated superhero movies?
The Progress on Superman 2?
The answer to this question is rather short – the second Man of Steel has been placed on the back burner indefinitely. Apparently DC is more focused on getting the Batman trilogy underway, which will star Ben Affleck. The current schedule will see the release of Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman and the Justice League. From there attention will be going back to a solo Bruce Wayne and as for Superman, nobody knows yet. He will obviously be part of the Justice League film, but fans are going to have to wait quite a long time before they see him fighting the good fight alone.
